Stability is pleased to share that our General Counsel and Chief Strategy Officer, Dharma Sadasivan, was a member of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s Working Group on Legal Responsibility for AI Agents.
IMDA launched the Working Group’s Discussion Paper on Legal Responsibility for AI Agents at Asia Tech x Singapore.
The Working Group comprised roughly 27 lawyers from academia, private practice, in-house, and government, convened by IMDA to examine whether Singapore's existing legal frameworks adequately address emergent liability challenges that arise when AI agents act autonomously. There's a joke somewhere in there about getting a roomful of lawyers to agree on anything.
The Discussion Paper is the Working Group’s attempt at mapping where current civil liability doctrine stretches to cover agentic harm, and where challenges remain.
In particular, the case study at Part 3 of the Discussion Paper walks through how a fault-based negligence regime and a strict liability regime might each handle the same scenario, highlighting how differences in AI governance frameworks may impact actors.
We're grateful to IMDA for our continued inclusion in critically important AI Governance work.
