Stability launches Monolith - content fingerprinting for copyright provenance

Stability Solutions

Stability is pleased to announce the public launch of Monolith - a content fingerprinting application for creative professionals, which enables creatives to help prove copyright provenance.

Every piece of content has a unique digital fingerprint (a cryptographic hash). This isn't new, it's been used for decades in everything from Google Image Search to Shazam. Like human fingerprints, they're there whether or not you look for them.

Monolith captures these content fingerprints and embeds additional information such as attribution, Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Content Credentials, IP licenses, and AI training permissions - all in a permanent, verifiable, and machine-readable way.

IP lawyers are familiar with the copyright framework - copyrights automatically come into existence for creative works. But creative professionals frequently create these works in isolation or silos. These copyrights arise in the dark - invisible to everyone but the author. So when it's time to enforce copyrights, the author struggles to prove they created the work - it’s hard to prove, when the only person who truly knows you created the work is yourself.

Monolith allows authors to fingerprint not just their finished works, but every iteration of the work, from the time of its inception to the finished version(s) - taking the invisible part of the process and making it visible and provable.

This gives creators an easy and strong way of proving provenance. It works with every file type, with no change to workflows.

Monolith comes in two versions:

  1. Monolith Lite: For individual creatives, and priced for accessibility
  2. Monolith Enterprise: For studios and production houses, allowing Monolith to be integrated into any existing system via APIs, record custom metadata, and more.

In a world where synthetic content is becoming indistinguishable from original human-made work, the ability to prove "This exists, I made it, here's when" is more important than ever, and Monolith's capabilities represent a paradigm shift in favor of creative professionals.
